Medicare rebate

With a Mental Health Care Plan, you will get a Medicare rebate of $149.05 (for up to 10 sessions per calendar year), leaving an out-of-pocket fee of $180.95 per session.

Your Medicare rebate can be processed on your behalf on the day of the session. It will usually take about 24 hours for it to be reimbursed into your account.

You may also be eligible for private health insurance rebates. Please check directly with your health insurer to find out how much you will be reimbursed per psychology session.

How it works

Step 1: The enquiry

The first step (admittedly sometimes the hardest one to take) is simply to reach out. The best way to do that is to fill out the contact form. To ensure that I reply to the right person, please double-check that the email address and phone number you’ve provided are correct.

After you get in touch, I’ll send you a few brief questions. Your answers will help me understand your needs and determine whether I’m the right psychologist to support you.

Step 2: The booking

Next, we will book your first telehealth appointment. I usually see clients on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Step 3: The final details

Once the booking is finalised, you’ll receive a confirmation email with the appointment details, the Zoom link, and the links to 3 forms that you will need to complete before our first session:

The goal of this form is to make you aware of the confidentiality and data privacy policy, cancellation policy, and other details about the services provided so that you can make an informed decision about whether you are happy to go ahead with our sessions.

Consent is about making sure you feel safe and comfortable in our work together. I cannot do anything without your consent and you are always free to say no or stop anytime. This form only requires your signature. Please read it carefully and reach out if you have any questions.

This form requires you to fill out your details so that I can register you as a patient at my clinic, understand your goals, and ensure you get a Medicare rebate if eligible.

This questionnaire is designed to measure the emotional states of depression, anxiety and stress. Completing the DASS-21 is also part of the Medicare requirements for those with a Mental Health Care Plan.

If you’re struggling to answer some of these questions, you are not alone. You don’t have to get it perfect — just pick an answer that seems the closest to how you have been feeling.

I know filling out forms is about as easy as trying to remember the thing you forgot while doing the thing you didn’t mean to start. But don’t worry, no form should take longer than 5–10 minutes to complete. You will only need to complete the consent and intake forms once — and without them, the first session cannot go ahead.

Step 4: See you online

Telehealth appointments are conducted via Zoom. Once your initial appointment has been booked, you will receive a Zoom link. This is the same link you will use on all our future sessions so I recommend saving it somewhere handy.

When the time comes for our appointment, you can simply click on this link and we will meet in a safe and confidential virtual space to begin our session together.

No, my clinic is fully online. Sessions are conducted on Zoom or RemotEMDR, both of which have strict privacy compliance.

Absolutely. With a Mental Health Care Plan, you will get a $145.25 Medicare rebate (for up to 10 sessions per calendar year), leaving a $164.75 out-of-pocket fee per session.

Your Medicare rebate will be processed on your behalf on the day of the session. It will usually take about 24 hours for it to be reimbursed into your account.

If you are eligible for private health insurance rebates, you will be required to pay for the appointment in full as a ‘Private Consultation’. You will then be able to use the invoice to claim the rebate with your health fund. Please check with your health insurer to ensure you’re eligible.

This differs depending on your goals and the challenges that have brought you to therapy. I like to be transparent with you from the outset about what you can achieve in a certain amount of time as the path to healing is not linear.

If you’re limited by Medicare’s 10 subsidised sessions per year, we will try to focus on tools to get you unstuck. If you’re looking to do deeper work, such as processing trauma or addressing longstanding patterns, it will most likely take more than 10 sessions.

Therapy is about consent so you are free to halt your sessions anytime.

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. There are so many ways a first appointment can go, so often the first thing I’ll ask you is if there’s anything you want to get out of the appointment.

You may have a specific goal or problem you’d like to address immediately. You may want to get to know me or a specific therapeutic approach better.

Or you may be happy to let me guide the session, in which case I will start by asking you questions to get a better sense of your goals and the difficulties you’re currently experiencing. If we have time, I might ask you questions about your history as well.

I am not a registered NDIS provider, so I do not see clients who are accessing funding on a plan-managed or agency-managed basis. I do see clients who are on a self-managed plan.
